Mr. Smid started producing taps in May 1941. In 1943, the company was changed to a joint-stock company MIKRO AS,
which employed more than 250 people at the end of the war. In the next post-war and subsequent totalitarian period, the company was renamed several times (Metal Tools, Naredi Zdanice, NAREX Zdanice), but remained specialized in the production of thread-cutting tools.
